US tank killer aircraft for sale

The person that wrote the article got himself a little bit too pumped up. The Bronco was not a heavy ground support aircraft, and I doubt one ever killed a tank. This description of its principal attributes and use in Vietnam is much more accurate than the shill's pronouncements.

The Bronco performed observation, forward air control, helicopter escort, armed reconnaissance, utility light air transport and limited ground attack. The Bronco has also performed aerial radiological reconnaissance, tactical air observation, artillery and naval gunfire spotting, airborne control of tactical air support operations and front-line, low-level aerial photography.

Yeah, not really a "tank killer" by design or by any means. As 3393 said, it was a FAC(A) platform and aerial spotter. Cool bird though, without a doubt, and of course with a significant A/G purpose.

You'd think the "OV" designation would be a big clue.

It replaced the Bird Dog. The Bird Dog never struck fear into any enemy.

I am not sure that is entirely true.

" The humble L-4, equipped with an effective FM radio transmitting to a battalion fire direction center with a trained crew, brought devastating fires down upon German forces. The mere presence of the Field Artillery aircraft overhead became an effective counterbattery tool. German (and, later, Japanese) batteries learned to hold their fire, lest their muzzle flashes bring forth a rain of Cub-directed shells"

I’m sure Bird Dogs have struck fear into many a nose wheel pilot... just sayin....

They can smell fear!

And the OV-10 probably took out some armor plated rick shaws. Kinda like a tank. A little bit.

There’s a real good book by an OV-10 pilot called “A Lonely Kind of War”

There's another book "Cleared Hot" written by a Marine pilot that did two tours in Vietnam, one as a Huey pilot, the second as CO of a OV-10 squadron.

''Ground Attack VIETNAM: The Marines Who Controlled the Skies'' by J.M. Moriarty is about flying FAC in Vietnam. Really down to earth writing style.
