I have a new A&P for annual, he took apart the gascolator and there was no screen there--I have looked but I cannot seen to find a part number or anything offered for sale on the various aviation websites--does this engine perhaps not use a screen?

Many thanks in advance!

Gascolator on the engine??

Or is it on the firewall? Yes, there should be a screen in there. What airplane is this? Picture of the gascolator?

Thank you very much, this is perfect! I think it is mounted to the firewall, the drain plug sticks out of the cowling. Sorry I could not snap a pic as the cowling is back on.

An A&P that doesn't have a copy of the ACS catalog on his or her desk or desktop? Wow. . . .

I have seen different sizes of those screens. Better take a look at this page: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/categories/aircraft_parts/ap/menus/ep/gascolators.html

And that doesn't include ancient versions like these:

The best gascolator is Steve's Gascolator. ACS has them or you can buy direct from Steve's. https://www.stevesaircraft.com/gascolator.php

I've installed a couple of them. Really nice units, easy to service. But buy extra o-rings when you order it; they're metric and not so readily available.

Now, after finding that the gascolator has no screen, your A&P needs to pull the filter screen out of the carb's fuel inlet (or the fuel injection servo's inlet) and clean it out. Debris that should have been stopped by the gascolator will have continued on into the carb or servo.

??? I got better discounts from other vendors. AS only offers volume business discounts so not the best price for a mx provider in many cases, but on the retail side they definitely have good prices.
