Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a reliable avionic shop in SoCal. I'm based at KEMT and need some radio work on my PA 28 180.

what model radio and what's the problem?
 
It's my radio#2 king kx155, I barely can listen on com2 and transmit, I suspect some wiring issue, sometimes I push on radio face and it's better, need a specialist to look at the back panel wiring and antennas?

Realize you're competing with piles of people doing 70k 5-tube avionic installs in their little wonder-cessnas right now, so you're going to need to throw some elbows to get service in the "hundreds" range.

You may end up at a place like affordable avionics at chino. I'd have recommended the radio shop at cable, but he packed up awhile ago. He was good people for this sort of repair work. You might also call Bevan-Rabell in Wichita for an over-the-phone consult and send them your radio if they deem it reasonable to do so.

I thought it was funny -- I was reminded of those people who live their entire lives in los angeles having never been east of the I-405 freeway.

So he hasn't flown to san diego yet. It's not like the airport has anything special going for it other than proximity to the zoo. :D
 
I've used Ramona Avionics and I absolutely agree, they'd be my very first choice - but yeah, they are busy. This might not be worth their time. Schmook is probably right, check out Affordable Avionics at Chino. I think there are two avionics shops at Chino. I heard that the larger (affordable??) was bought out by Leading Edge avionics over at SNA. That might impact your plans - or maybe not.

Your project sounds like it's either a basic thing or it's going to turn into a new Nav/Com2 project. If you find yourself striking out, you might try Waypoint at Riverside (KRAL). They have been talking about getting into the avionics world. They are doing a full new panel for someone I know and might be willing to help out.

You might try to call Brian Gerdes too http://www.gerdesaviation.com/contact.php He focuses on mainly doing pito-static testing, but I've heard that he's helped out people with basic issues here and there.
