Will King and Garmin 'talk'?

The KY196 comm in the Cessna is on its last legs, so we're gonna replace both it and the KN53 with a new navcom...Garmin to match the GTN650.

I should know the answer to this, but I don't...

Will our current KI-209 nav/ils indicator 'talk' to Garmin 'stuff' or are their protocols exclusive? Thinking a GNC255.....

The GNC 255 does have a VOR/LOC composite output, thus it can drive a KI 209(A).
 
The problem is that you won’t have an annunciator that will tell you if it is in GPS or VLOC mode. The GTN will anúnciate this, but it is usually outside of the field of view required. Adding an annunciator/switch is probably more expensive than you want to mess with. I’d get an MD200 or a GI106A/B or a G5 HSI…

Edit: Ah, I thought you were asking about the GTN650. The GNC255A will work fine with a KI209.
