I bought a project Starduster 2 and it has a short mount with a 470 engine and gear legs are in the original position . In other words it legs are in the old position. My question is the airplane will be in CG with the short mount are what is the mount length to be THANKS

Can't answer your question, Boyd, but enjoy your new-to-you Starduster 2!

You’re gonna need to weigh it…. Has it ever flown in its current configuration? Maybe taxi it over to a shop who can do it for you at your airport. They have portable scales too, so someone can come to you. A lot of people have died flying home built or project planes that have a bad CG

Join the biplaneforum.com and ask the question there... many members own Stardusters and have dealt with that issue. Many of the 2 seat biplanes of that era would be in CG with a full fuel tank and as the fuel burned off, the CG would move aft.

Moving the gear back if you can is definitely advisable. That won't affect where the CG needs to be, though.
