DCA Go-Arounds?

Hey all.

I am a relatively new (few years) aviation enthusiast. For the last 5 years I've lived near DCA. As we all know, the airspace in the DC area is a nightmare.

It just so happens that I live directly on the go-around vector for DCA Runway 1.

I hear very little air traffic otherwise, due to my location (except I am also on the final Northern approach route for HELOs into The Pentagon) except for when an aircraft comes screaming over my head during TOGA. Lately I have been noticing it more and more, as in, there are lots of go-arounds at DCA on Runway 1

Does anyone know why?
 
And you’re sure these are go-arounds and not routine departures?

Yep. The departures do not make that left turn, departures climb and follow the river until at least North of the cemetery, only go-arounds make the hard left between the cemetery and the Pentagon. Also I take a look at ADS-B just out of curiosity whenever I can.
 
Lots of reasons. Spacing, unstabilized approach, weather, traffic on the runway, etc.

I know the reason for go-arounds, I just was not/am not sure if DCA experienced them for a particular reason, the approach is definitely a little tricky, not sure if there are any pilots who routinely fly through there.

Runway 1 doesn’t really have any tricky approaches. It’s either the ILS or the mount vernon visual which is just follow the River northbound and intercept the LOC. I think you’re thinking of the River visual 19. With lots of planes being RNP capable, it makes that one a breeze as well.
 
Let me re-ask better. Where can I verify that my past flight was actually sending out valid ADS-B?
(Yes, we are having some issues and want to check things.)
