One thing I did not expect to be hard in my rotor transition is the sight picture. It’s much stepper than airplanes and my brain refuses to process that if you are high pushing forward makes it worse.
I only have 5 hours now but didn’t expect something so simple to be hard.
I think another thing that my brain isn’t processing is that you don’t really want to plan to arrive at your landing zone at zero speed because that makes your last bit of the approach too slow. But it’s also east to dissipate speed.
Actually getting rid of energy is easier than in airplanes. But flying mooneys and jets my brain is focused on energy.
My CFIH says autos will be easy for me :)

Anyway just venting. :)

Get out your height- velocity diagram and pick off a few key alt/speed combos. Also, pick out a minimum airspeed that works for you, and treat it as a minimum. In a part 29 helo its called "VMIN". Of course you're watching the ASI with your third eye. The other two are working the sight picture. 12 to 18 degree glide path.
