It was a big screw in the center of the tread of my truck's tire. The size of the screw made it debatable as to whether the hole could be patched, but the 45,000 miles on the tires clinched it. I figured I had around 5,000 miles left before I need to buy new tires, but the screw sped up the timeline. And I"m glad it did. The new Michelin Defenders have already proven that they have better traction on wet pavement or on loose gravel than the old original equipment tires had even when they were new. Quieter too.
 
Michelin was a good choice and you will get more that 55k on them. I got 100K of some XCH4s on a Dodge truck in the early 90s.

I had a odd elecrical compoenent about the size of a roll of pennies. It had four wires coming out of it and the only marking on it was the words "Critical Safety Component." I used to leave it on the ramp under the plane to see if anybody noticed.
