Memorable Resturants on/near field

Let me add a very nice on-field diner I visited this past Saturday. Fantastic food (all day breakfast) and friendly service.

Paula's Runway Diner
Hudson Valley Regional Airport
263 New Hackensack Rd
Wappingers Falls, NY 12590

Code: POU

I feel it's important to keep promoting these establishments, especially the on-field places, that are surely struggling from Covid-19. I know in my home state, several on-field diners have closed and still not returned.

Let's all do our part.

As the title mentions what are some on field(or within walking distance, we can throw in with free transportation) restaurants you would recommend.

I will throw out a few Ive done

BQ1-Pikin Pig---on the field
KSSI-Southern Soul BBQ- .5 mile walking distance

N40 - Sky Manor NJ Runway Cafe
47N - Central Jersey Regional...Pizza and Pasta is at the end of the driveway
1N7 - Blairstown NJ
KLNS - Lancaster PA, Fiorentino's in the terminal.
KRDG - Reading PA (forget the name of the restaurant, but, like LNS, in the terminal)

just off the top of the noggin..

I still try to update fly2lunch.com when I go places, but it seems like the website is semi abandoned.

Since this thread came up last an excellent restaurant has been opened at HUF, Terre Haute, IN. ALN closed sadly, although I think the airport is actively seeking new tenants.

I finally made it up to MSN & JVL, and both are as good as advertised. Bessie's was a little slow, but I chalk that up to the post covid labor shortage; OTOH service at the Jet Room was exceptional, as was the food.

T82 - Fredericksburg, TX - Airport Diner

Just as an update:
BQ1 - Pik 'n' Pig - the restaurant burnt down in a smokehouse fire a month or two ago. Overnight fire, nobody hurt. Those of you from BBQ-land will know this is just the mark of an authentic place. They'll rebuild, but will take a little while.
JNX - Sam's Flying Scoops - through some mix of new construction at JNX and dispute over finding room for them during the construction, they've moved to some non-airport location for a while. Everyone misses them, and I think hope they'll find their way back to the field after construction, but there may be enough hard feelings to prevent that now; we'll see. Was very good ice cream.

44N - Sky Acres - Thursday - Sunday - really good food.
KPOU - Hudson Valley Regional (we all call it "Dutchess") Paula's. The service can be a little spotty.

YEah its a shame that JNX allows those folks from Blue Line to run amuck over there...

But I bet it at least smelled delicious while it went.

Stanton's Barbecue and Fish Camp near Bennetsville, SC. Not on the chart, but has been a fly-in lunch destination for at least 30 years. Grass strip 2300 feet long is just across the street from restaurant. Details @destination-bbq. com.
I can post lat/long if interested.

We had the 94th aero squadron and 8th bomb group etc. A chain of airport themed restaurants. All the ones I visited were very good, with great ambiance. Sadly, I know of none anymore.
The 94th Aero Squadron at Montgomery Field in San Diego (KMYF) is apparently still open. The one at Van Nuys (KVNY) is "temporarily" closed for "health and safety" reasons.

I34-Greensburg, In…. Parkside Ice Cream Shop and mini-golf is about a 200 foot walk from the ramp. Bowling alley right next door, City pool and water park next to that, and the county fairgrounds are across the street. This one is a hidden gem, a great stop with kids!

KCHD, Chandler, AZ, has the Hangar Cafe. If you get lessons in the Great Lakes there, you can almost do the preflight from your table.

Hagerstown, MD, KHGR has a nice restaurant right in the FBO. I think it is called Runways.

I saw Fiorentino's at KLNS Lancaster mentioned, and Klinger's at KRDG Reading. I have enjoyed both places. KMRB Martinsburg has a restaurant on field.

Bad rabbit cafe - terlingua ranch 1E2

KPMH, Portsmouth, Ohio has a great on airport diner Skyline Family Restaurant. Airplane parking right in front of the restaurant, food is outstanding.

Foxy's, Lancaster CA (KWJF)
Breezy's Wings & Wheels Restaurant, Red Bluff CA (KRBL)
Airpark Cafe, Benton Field, Redding CA (O85)
Marble Canyon Restaurant, Marble Canyon AZ (L41)
Westside Lilo's Cafe, Seligman AZ (P23, 1/2-mile walk)
Hangar 24, Lake Havasu City AZ (KHII)
The Landings, Henderson NV (KHND)

Nobody's yet mentioned:

1K1 - Stearman Field, Wichita, KS - Stearman Bar and Grill - they have all kinds of events and often bands in the evening too. Popular with the locals.
SEP - Stephenville, TX - Hard 8 BBQ is a short walk.
RBD - Dallas Executive, TX - Delta Charlie's.
COS - Colorado Springs, CO - The Airplane restaurant - part of the seating is IN a KC-97 attached to the main restaurant, with the wing coming right through the building. Very cool. Easy walk (0.5 mile) from Cutter or Colorado Jet Center.

Sadly, Ozzie's at OUN has closed permanently.

“Fusion” opens this weekend at the London-Corbin Kentucky Airport. In the space that was occupied by “The Hangar” that closed in 2017(?). Might make a run up there next weekend.

like an asian restaurant? lemme see if there's any golf courses in that area as well.......

If you like sushi & hibachi, Tobiko at KBAF is very good.

Cool decor at Bethany's Airport Diner at KBID.

Just called and they are open now. Going to fly down tomorrow for lunch and check it out, I'll report back.

The Spruce Goose at Port Townsend (OS9) has great pies.
The Hub at Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) is a good place.

We'll wait until next year to see how the new operator and location are at KPWT (Bremerton). The old cafe shut down and was torn down. Too bad as it was a great place to have fish and chips while grading landings.

I shed a tear when they closed the Airport Cafe at PWT. The Hub at Taco McNarrows should have tacos on the menu. Yup on the pies at the Goose at Port Townsend. The Hayviator poster on the wall there was my inspiration for my avatar. It was kinda eerie. Had never seen nor heard of that poster before. I had watched The Aviator the night before on TV and there it was. It was like sign from god or sumpin. Ya want Fish n Chips? Try Westport 14S. There are like about 10 Fish n Chips joints there. Well, maybe not 10 but there's a bunch. Just want a Fish. Walk to the dock and buy one fresh off a fishing boat. They'll wrap it with a little ice for you.

KTOP - Philip Billard in Topeka, KS has one in the “terminal” building down the hall from the FBO. It’s the one I grew up with (got my PPL there and worked at the FBO throughout college). The owner, Tammy, started working there as a waitress and is good people.

I don’t know memorable or not, but if you are flying near Bryce Canyon NP (KBCE) in central Utah there is a shuttle to Ruby’s. Lodge also if you want to make it an overnighter.

Gorgeous flying scenery all around there.

Some of the paces I've been that I didn't see mentioned.
3NP Napoleon MI Napoleon Cafe - about a block southeast - pie. Grass runways (OMG!)
I74 Grimes Field Urbana OH Airport Cafe. Also, Champaign Aviation Museum - building a B-17 from parts - you can get up close and personal... https://www.champaignaviationmuseum.org/
KRMY Brooks field Marshal MI Schulers will pick you up(Been a LONG time since I've been there.) Also the American Museum of Magic is in town. https://americanmuseumofmagic.com/ Kinda small, but interesting.

On my list to visit:
51M Oscoda County MI Paddle Inn. Right next door. Also a Sunoco station right across the street if you are one of those who schleps auto fuel (Likely E-10) in 5 gallon cans like I do.

They still famous for their pies? it's been almost 10 years since I've been there, but I definitely remember the pies.
Been a couple years since I've been there - but as far as I can recall, I like pies, famous or not. :)

Paddle Inn is about as "home cooked" as I've ever had...good stuff. Be prepared to clean grasshopper guts off the plane (and chlorophyll on the prop from grass) after taxi, if you choose to taxi to the restaurant. Of course, you can also walk there from paved parking if you choose not to.

Didn't see it mentioned: KPLN Hoppies Landing. Good pizza, windows overlook the ramp/field. Open late.

Kentucky Dam, Lake Barkley Resort, and Rough River Lodge are all Kentucky State Parks with state-maintained runways.
Call the lodges, and they will send the van to pick you up for the lodge restaurant.
Check the hours, some have reduced days due to “recent events”.

I've heard of these somewhere...

I am really surprised that with the “Small Town Cafe Culture” down here, there isn’t more on airports in TN, Al, Ga, etc.

Waypoint Cafe at KCMA for breakfast/ brunch
Ragin Crawfish near KOXR for seafood boil

The distinguished scallywag form the Peoples Socialist Republic of California seconds your nomination for the WayPoint Cafe @KCMA. The Wednesday special, Tri-Tip Sandwhich

KLBF (in the terminal one building over from the GA FBO)

My fav stop eastbound from Denver/Cheyenne for breakfast or brunch.
