Would the Garmin GA 24 antenna work in a plane?

Hey guys, so the G300 in my Cessna 162 has a TNC XM antenna port in the back of it. I know I can install a Garmin GA 55 antenna in the roof and run that into the back of the G300, but I'm wondering if there's an easier and less expensive way. Enter my idea of the GA 24 dash-mounted antenna with a MCX female to TNC male adapter. Question is: would that work and give my G300 the signal it needs to provide SXM radio and SXM weather? Or would data get lost between the MCX to TNC conversion?

Also, why is the GA 24 $69 and the GXM 42 is $599? Don't they do the same thing?

Is your airplane SLSA or ELSA? If SLSA: do what Cessna has approved, it's your only choice.

If ELSA: What equipment is receiving SXM? Does it's manual tell you anything about approved/required antennas?

Are you doing the install or a shop?

The G300 is receiving SXM; it has a built-in receiver as explained above. It just needs an antenna.
