Like many, I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Collins, Technical Editor at AOPA, photojournalist, craft beer cognoscenti, and much more. Mike died of Covid-19 yesterday, after fewer than two weeks in intensive care. He was 59.

POA members may know Mike from AOPA fly-ins and other general aviation events for the last few decades. He was a fixture, to say the least. His photography and writing was a mainstay of AOPA media and he often presented on ADS-B and other topics at various events.

He was encouraging and inspiring while being honest and not avoiding difficult topics. I tremendously liked Mike; and admired and respected him. His death is a huge loss for his family, friends, and all his communities. Godspeed, Mike.
