Pre-Flight
Hello all! New to the forum. Had a quick question to see if anyone has experienced something similar. I fly a Piper Cherokee 180 that has a stratus ES transponder with ADSB-out and in capability. It also has a non-WAAS Garmin 430 installed.
Anyway, almost like clockwork after about 30 minutes of operation I will get an error message on the screen that says something like "pressure altitude input failure" and then center will call me to tell me he lost my mode C. After that the mode C capability is gone even if I turn it off and turn it back on. It happens every time I fly it and sucks because I file IFR pretty regularly. Based on the error message it seems like there is some issue with the altitude encoder ("input failure")? But I don't understand why it works for a half hour then suddenly quits.
Let me know if you have any ideas.
