Congrats!!!! Great Job!!!!

Short story about 190/195
circa 1957-8 I scrapped 2-195s and a beech stagger wing.
no wanted those old radials, with all the leaks.
I pulled the two Jakes, and the 985 and sold the engine to ag-cropers.

the aircraft ended up in the land fill.

Wow! What a story Tom. Thanks for sharing.

I wanted to give you a "like" for posting, but concerned others may think I'm "liking" the scrapping instead of the story.

Actually, no you cannot. The crosswind gear was never set up for wheel pants.
I didn't know that, there were a lot 190/5 with Goodyear brake set ups. (requires a STC to run Clevelands) never stops to look at what gear they that had.

Definitely on my short list of dream planes when/if I ever have enough money to buy.
As usual, you've got some great shots of a beautiful aircraft.

What a beautiful plane. I’d forgotten about this shoot Jack. Glad it finally made the cover. This way we all get to see the beautiful photos all over again.

gary

A few years ago, I struck up a conversation with a SWA deadheading pilot a few minutes before boarding. I asked him if he owned an airplane, and it took about two seconds for him to whip out his wallet and hand me a photo of his beautiful red and white 195.

I laughed and asked him if he had photos of his family too, he grinned and shook his head. :D

I would love an airplane with a nice old radial. Would never work with the old wallet though. I guess renting sketchy 72's for 150/hr doesn't work too well either though.
