A lucky fellow to get out of this one, but look at the plane and the report. Not withstanding the dig at a 1980 plane (I fly a 1947 one so you can guess my reaction to the reporting...), there are some real danger signs guessed at in the TV report. A de-registered airplane recently bought, a short 15 minute ferry flight up to Auburn and a plane that has green stuff growing on every surface which points to nothing flying in the last seven years. Makes one suspicious of either the IA who did the annual or the IA who signed off for the ferry flight or the pilot who looks like he was flying a plane out of annual without a ferry permit inspection? Greatful that the family involved wasn't in the car and there was no fire. But they aren't making more C150s and this is a lousy way to lose one in the fleet. It was cut in half to get on a flat bed truck. Ouch. But glad that the pilot survived.

Maybe the pilot took off with the blocks still tied to the plane.....

The one picture had a washington sticker from 2000. So it's been 20 years.

Well, considering the storage pressures of metro areas, a tiedown opened up to someone actively flying. silver linings.
