6 cylinder EDM-701 in 4 cylinder airplane

I'm taking the EDM-701 out of my F33A, and I have a friend with a Warrior that wants to buy it. Can he just not hook up the last two EGT/CHT probes, and use it in his airplane, or will he get an error code, or something else that makes it unusable?

Yes, just install it. It will auto configure as 4 cylinder.

"Just hooking it up" is ill advised. For a small fee JPI will reconfigure the EDM-701 with the proper limitations for your engine. Especially if you are planning on using oil temp/pressure capability.

At least contact JPI for their view.

The person that is buying the EDM from me called JPI and they had the same answer as Paul did above.
