we all know a new engine will develop more heat that an old engine during break in, How much ??

I'v never paid attention or had the gauges to test it.

any idea?

Initially +40-50F on retained CHT for the first 30-45 minutes, then a steady drop to normal over a total run of 1-2 hours. This is with exceedingly rich EGT (< 1,150F) on CMI IO-550s. I haven't broken in a lyc in awhile, don't recall how those go. I haven't done an LOP break-in on either make.

Only oil temp gauge in the L8. Right now running at 190 at high power / warm day / Low altitude. Will update closer to 25 hours.

I wanna say it was around the same for my O-200.
