I have a C150 with KT76A that is failing, it quit a couple of years ago and was fixed at a shop, failed again last year, and worked again after removing and cleaning contacts. Now it's out again, and I'd really prefer to not spend much on a plane I'd like to upgrade from relatively soon. 76As and 76Cs seem to be readily available for a few hundred $$, so I could try 10 of them before I got to the price of the cheapest new transponder. Is that my best option, and if so, anybody got one sitting on a shelf looking to make $100 fast? Thanks,

Patrick

Looks like you answered your own question. There's a glut of old transponders left over from ADSB upgrades, getting a 76A should be easy and, by far, the cheapest solution. If you're going to sell the plane in the near term, you'd be lucky to get half of what you'd spend on a transponder upgrade.

I've got a stack of them. I'll take $100 + shipping. Call me at 352-427-0285 and we'll work it out.
