Your "what if" plane

If a hangar collapsed on my 182 - I'd replace it with a 310R, or Velocity XL-RG
If I wanted a high wing retract - Epic LT
If I wanted a low wing fixed gear - SR22T
If I wanted a twin - DA62
If I wanted a high-wing tricycle gear plane - King Katmai
If I wanted a low wing retract - Velocity XL-RG
If I wanted an experimental - Turbine Legend

I’d get another ‘73-‘74 Q model (R body without the long nose) 310 but with IO-550’s. Whenever my engines go I’m going to seriously consider the upgrade.

If the new hangar was bigger then I’m thinking a Ram VII 340.

180/185 is always going to be high on the list for a fun plane.

If the adjuster accidentally added a zero, I’d go for the Epic E1000.

If a hangar collapsed on my 182 - I'd replace it with another straight tail 182
If I wanted a high wing retract - TR182 (80 or later)
If I wanted a low wing fixed gear - PA-28-236
If I wanted a twin - 310C
If I wanted a high-wing tricycle gear plane - See above
If I wanted a low wing retract - Commander 114 (yes I know the universe says I'm supposed to want a Bonanza or Mooney)
If I wanted a tail dragger - 7GCBC
If I wanted an experimental - Tango

72-74 177 with a magnafluxed spar.
72-74 210 ditto, full IFR, AP, no FIKI NA
Navion
Debonair
But, I'd gladly "settle" for Tim's 182...
Or an old 172 with a high time motor.

Oh, AND a hangar in the first place... Big enough to hold 'em all!

Back when I had to do overhauls on the 310 I decided that the value wasn't there to do the 520 to 550 upgrade. However doing a 470 to 550 upgrade, absolutely. Even with the 520s I think the 550 upgrade would've been noticeably better, but the cost would've been a lot higher in our situation.

Now, what I'd REALLY like to do (anyone want to get out a checkbook?) is remove the turbos from a couple of GTSIO-520s, put in 550 cranks, and make GIO-550s with 10:1 pistons. Altitude performance would be insane.

Whatever can be fitted with adaptive controls for only the left hand and foot and has over 500 HP!

Right rudder? Screw that! Curved takeoff!!!

LOL.

If a hangar collapsed on my 185 - I'd replace it with a Super Cub
If I wanted a high wing retract - I'd lie down until that urge went away
If I wanted a low wing fixed gear - RV-10
If I wanted a twin - Twin Bonanza
If I wanted a high-wing tricycle gear plane - 206
If I wanted a low wing retract - Bonanza
If I wanted an experimental -RV-something

Trainer: my lil baby Blue Angel (AA1B)
Tail: KitFox
Tri Experimental: RV10
Tri Certified: M20E
Twin: Cougar
MoneyNoObject: TBM 700. 300 knots....

If something happened to my Tiger, I'd get another AG5B Tiger and have Gary Vogt build it just like mine, or maybe make it a 150 knot airplane.

If the E33, probably go find an A36 or F33A with a bad panel and build that. Maybe step up to a steam gauge Mooney Ovation and build that panel.

Lotto - Oh boy. Cheyenne 400LS with a dual G600 TXi build out. Back up plan would be a TBM 940. I don't really have an interest in a fan - I appreciate efficiency. If I was, it would be a Premier 1A.

Light piston twin - 414.

Light piston retract - FIKI Mooney Ovation or Acclaim.

Now you are really dreaming. You must have your Mooney insured very well.

Hey, that TBM is just another Mooney. I wonder if insurance would understand that? :p

If a hangar collapsed on my 180 - I'd replace it with a Maule M7-235
Just to be clear this is not because I think Maule's are better than 180's, but because I wouldn't have the heart (or wallet) to go through another multi-year restoration on an old airframe and would get a new(er) plane that would mostly fit me from the get-go.
