I recently installed a G5 into a Bonanza that has a kfc 150 and a 530w. When you use the auto pilot it will not intercept course. It will turn to the correct area and then blow past. The heading bug works perfectly with the auto pilot. If anyone has experience with this please chime in with ideas. Thank you

GPSS or Nav? Are the nav outputs from the 530W connected to the AP? You need both the connections from the 530W to the AP and the connections from the GAD29B to the AP.

Yes the wires from the 530 are installed. I think it is a single wire and three shielded pairs from the 530 to the kfc 150. This is only the problem in Nav mode as well.

Yep, those look right. Were those pre-existing to the G5 install? I’d verify continuity on all those from P5001 to the computer as well as double checking the course error signal from the GAD29B to the AP computer.

Oddly enough I have already did that. Those wires were not pre existing. I added them. I removed a ki-525 to install the g5. Maybe I have the 530 programmed wrong. What should the settings be for the ARINC 429 menu in the 530. I also only ran one set of wires to the ARINC port in the 530.

There should be 2 ARINC out from the 530 and one in. The nav out should be set to low speed and SDI 1, the GPS out should be set to low speed GAMA 429 and the in should be set to low and G5 (assuming you are on 5.4 on the 530W).

Yes the 530 is 5.4.

Just to make sure my wiring here is correct as well

Yep, that matches. And you have the GAD29B wired to the AP computer as per 5.23.3 of the manual and configured as KFC 150 per 5.23.3.1? If it’s following heading bug and GPSS that seems likely unless you left out the course, but it’s acting like it’s not getting all the proper nav signals. Do you have access to a VOR signal on the ground via a signal generator or actual VOR? If you center the needle and engage nav tracking and then rotate the obs, what does it do?

I didn’t think about doing that. I will have to attempt this. Thank you for the suggestion.

The 530W is not receiving the 429 course in from the G5. So the 530W can not decode the left right deviation. The G5 displays the deviation because it calculates it internally. Check your 429 input port on the 530W. It is probably turned off.

Can you post pictures from your G5 ARINC 429 config settings and your 530W Main ARINC 429 page, VOR/LOC/GS ARINC 429 page, and also the main inputs page (while the G5's are booted up normally)?

I will post those photos as soon as I can get to that airplane. The weather here has been crap for weeks.
