Question for people who may be familiar with Arkansas winter flying weather.

How likely is there to be icing during daylights hours flying from the west to Little Rock in mid-February? This would be for altitudes up to 12,500'. A rough guess is helpful.

thanks,
Peter

I’m thinking that on most days you could find an ice-free altitude, especially down low.

Really just guessing though.

Long range forecast is for us to get super cold first half of February. Besides that it’s a hit or miss. We can get low level clouds with gulf moisture that last for days at a time. Those clouds will have a lot rime ice. We can also have a week straight of sun.

Today as an example, it was forecasted for the last week to be sunny. Well the mid and low level moisture never moved off with the front last night. Today the clouds never got above 1000’ with most airports sitting around 500’. All day both the TAFs and MOS kept showing it would be sunny by noon...

Bunch plans got delayed till next Sunday as I don’t have FIKI in the club aircraft.
