Good morning!

I wanted to double check because this information is hard to find, if I let my Basic Med online course (take every 2 years) expire because I haven't been flying lately, all I have to do is retake the course and I am current again? There is no penalty for letting it expire?

It's all just a look-back. So if you decide to fly one day, and plan to operate under BasicMed, you just need to have a comprehensive exam in the preceding 48 months (not calendar months!) and a online course completed in the preceding 24 calendar months. No penalties involved.

So if it’s been, say, 36 months since you did BM, just do the online course and you’ll be good to go.
