Someone managed to land an RV on taxiway A at the 03L holding point at Johannesburg International Airport (FAOR) today - between 2 airliners.
Only have Imgur link - can’t figure out how to embed...

Only injury I suspect will be to the pilot’s pocketbook...

Nose-dragger RV.
'nuff said.

All seriousness aside, was this an emergency? Is there any more information?

If anyone knows, they aren’t saying. All gone quiet on the local av forum - we know he was on a VFR flight plan with FAOR as the stated destination. Scuttlebutt suggest that he/she may have been unfamiliar with the airfield and not appreciated the considerable distance between 03L and 03R. Probably cleared to land 03L and decided the taxiway was 03L and the actual 03L was 03R.

Inexplicable.

When I do my GUMPS check on final, I also say to myself that I've been cleared to land (so far every time :) ) and check the rwy numbers ahead of me. Good practice to avoid landing on the wrong rwy (or a taxiway).

Btw, the video only shows an airplane moving fast on the ground. I did not see an actual landing. Do we have a reliable source?
