And regarding the presentation of the question:

There are two types of people in the world.
Those that think truth can be expressed by a dichotomy.
And an infinite number of other sorts.

one more thing. today's internet is not the same animal as one from late 90s and early 2000s. That wild-wild-west, everything is awesome and possibilities are endless thing is gone and buried.
Not hardly.... there’s still tons of niches to be filled. I’ve got a couple startups brewing right now that will revolutionize the real estate referral industry as we know it today. My companies will guarantee at least a 90% referral close rate vs. the 50% average close rate we currently experience.

Not seeking truth. Seeking opinion. Of course this is a very nuanced subject, but if i allowed for "maybe", everyone would answer "maybe" because this is a nuanced subject. I want people to make a choice. Good or bad. Maybe "great" and "awful" were a bit overly dramatic. 51% bad should still be answered as "awful" here.

Sometimes you only have 2 choices in voting. Your other option is not to vote.

Well yeah in niches, perhaps. But as a general rule, most of it is dominated by a few players. Startups with something new typically just get bought out now.

That’s the plan. Everything I’m working on is geared towards one of the major players (Zillow, Redfin, HomeLight, etc) acquiring my technologies. What’s cool is I live in an opportunity zone so when I unload my companies I won’t have to pay any capital gains.

The internet/web won't be the downfall of human kind.
The internet/web has both a positives and negatives list, miles long... just fill in the blanks.

The big things I see leading toward a downfall is:
Greed, over population, stress, constant sugar and processed food advertising/convenience in everyone's faces, and apathy regarding our finite resources and environment.

But that's just one man's sugar induced, stressed out opinion as he sits here on the internet ignoring the things he could do to help the environment.

Here’s a solution.... if all the so-called “environmentalists” would just practice what the preach and quit driving, using electricity, and eat naturally grown meat and veggies. The world would be a much better place. ;)

Yep... If everybody would practice what they preach the world would be an amazing place.

Sounds like what you are looking for is "net positive" vs "net negative."

Getting "all" of anybody to do something is the hard part!

Even though we have many forms of social media I feel that we're more alone now than ever before. Very little interaction between us and I miss it.

"Social Media" is the Olympic and World Champion of oxymorons.
