Recently TCM aired the movie again. One of my favorites. As many know, the "German" aircraft were actually Spanish. I was in Spain for 3 years and kept an Aeronca Champ as a guest of the Real Aero Club de Espana at Tablada Air Base outside Sevilla.

Tablada was used for some of the filming And I was fortunate to have some photos of the filming.
Included is a picture of my Champ next to a Spitfire. The Champ is presently in England. There is another of the same N number here in AZ. I put my old N number on another Champ to relive some of my youth. ( Didn't work I had to much arthritis to get in and out of it and it's gone. :()
Brag here I flew across the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier in a 65 Hp Champ,.
