hi, trying to track down some info about waivers. I have heard three differment versions. Aopa, ame, and FAA. I have 20/20 vision in right eye and my left eye is correctable to 20/60 in mynleft with amblyopia/lazy eye. I can see find. What is the process to get a waiver? I have been told to have the eye doc fill out a form and report to the ame, and they can use their judgment. I have been told I can request a flight test, etc. I am a student pilot at this time looking for a 3rd class medical
No aspirations for a commercial rating

Thanks

If you have a perfect Humphrey visual field in the “standards” eye, AME defers and okc issues “valid only for medical check ride”. Then you train through solo sign off and fly with the inspector for the waiver. Do not go unless you have a set of Humphrey (not the optometrist’s cheapie “Humphrey Welch”, the REAL deal Humphrey 24-2 visual fields, each eye separately). :)
