Part 61 Question for the Comerical

If one holds an instrument rating, are they still required to complete 61.128 (3)(i) with training for the rating? My initial thought is no, but you can never tell with the FAA....

Secondly, for 61.128.(3)(ii).. I just want verify when they say "combination thereof" are they saying I can do 5 hours complex, 5 hours TAA, or 1 hour complex and 9 hours TAA, etc.......
 
I assume you mean 61.129.

The short of it is, technically no - holding an instrument rating does not automatically fulfill the requirements. Check out the 2010 Hartzell LI (linked in that other thread.) In practice, it seems like people play loose with the interp, but ymmv.

Yes, you can combine taa, complex.
