Ball point pen. Some pilots use them to write down the N number so they can find it easily, or to hold in their hand to try to look cool and impress non-pilot passengers by furiously scribbling on a piece of paper every time they receive a radio call....

no, no you are looking at the pocket fod. This is about floor-fod. lol.
 
For the long time I had a small electronic component (about the size of C cell) with four wires coming from it. All it said on the printing was "Critical Safety Component." I loved to leave it on the ground under the plane when people were doing a preflight.
