Air-to-Air Flying Floods

The Cub belonged to Giles Henderson and he performed airshows in it for years. Unfortunately he was killed in a skydiving accident in 2017. You can see the story of Giles and the Flood family in the latest edition of EAA Vintage Airplane.

EAA asked me to do this shoot because only the PA-12 had a radio and I have experience flying with no-radio planes in formation. I'll admit it was a challenge getting the planes lined up! If I had to do it over, I would want the plane with the radio in the back. That way I could move him around to match what the other two planes were doing. I think the Father wanted his boys to be the first two planes though.

I don't let everyone fly this close, but Jason is a very good airshow pilot!

Nice airplanes, and nice folks! Jason did one of his first Pitts airshows in Coshocton, Ohio a few years ago. If memory serves, he was 18....and still working down to the low-level waiver.

Thanks! It was a challenge for sure. Three planes, one radio, one very little fuel, airplanes going into and out of OSH... it's a shoot I won't forget!
