Chicken enough?

A pop culture segment from the old "WKRP in Cincinnati" TV show...probably the most famous segment of it. Not included in this clip is a later line from that show which says "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

This is the Thanksgiving episode from the first season

Lol I meant the first video in the post. I remember as a kid watching that show though. Kinda wish they showed in reruns somewhere as I think I’d appreciate it more now. I think night court was on the same night or time slot.

A short follow up on Turkeys Away. It WAS based on a real event. The idea for throwing turkeys out of a helicopter came originally from Jerry Blum, a friend of WKRP writer Hugh Wilson. Sometime in the 1950s, before he was the manager of WQXI in Atlanta, Jerry Blum worked for Dallas radio station KBOX. As a Thanksgiving promotion, he threw turkeys off the back of a pickup truck, expecting them to fly away. There was a general riot as hundreds of people fought over and in some cases, ripped apart the live turkeys and Mr Blum was fired from his job over the incident. Later while telling that story to Hugh Wilson, he even included the phrase "I thought turkeys could fly."

Wild turkeys fly. Farm turkeys plummet.

Wild turkeys do, the turkeys we eat, too fat. I was riding my bicycle, lots of turkeys around here, one day one was in the road around a corner, I came up on it and startled it, it flew in front of me for about a mile then landed in a tree, wish I had a video of that, it was pretty cool. The turkey probably didn't think so though.

Actually, turkey farms clip their wings so they dont fly away, or kill themselves flying into fences etc.
