24v post light on 28v system

No such thing as a 24 volt system... 2.2 volts per cell in a lead acid battery. 3 cells = 6.6 ,, 6 cells = 13.2 volts, 12 cells = 26.4 volts.

we commonly call the 6 volt, 12 volt, and 24 volts but they aren't really. your 28 volt LED should work.
 
I just pulled a bunch of T1&3/4 wedge LEDs b/c they would not dim properly & replaced em with incands; much better.
Might keep that possibility in mind.
Also when I was researching LEDs lately, most gave the spec of approx 6-30v.
