I was just on a departing flight LAS to MSP and we had a bird strike. It was DL0968 with an 11:33am local departure. Wondering if any of you liveatc gurus can pull the audio?

There was a very audible crunch, about a 10 second delay and then the plane leveled off and the throttles came back. We maneuvered for a bit and then the pilot announced a return to the airport and alerted us that they were rolling the trucks for us. Very long landing and the emergency crews did a brake check. Upon exiting the pilots let us take a look up front. They had extremely limited visibility due to the blood. All in all very professional job by the crew.

No matter how many times you tell them to thaw the chicken first, they never listen.

Wow...that’s got to be a large B1-RD...

Wow. Glad nothing worse happened.

What’s the last thing that went through that bird’s mind?.......

Why, you afraid the birds might plan a retaliation strike..??

And that could not have been a more perfect shot to the nose..... just a feather off dead center....

i know a guy in Mexico that could pop that dent out, no problemo.

“Ah, senor! For the best A&P in town, try my cousin Ricky’s FBO, open 24 hours a day, no cover charge anytime.” “Step up, step up please...”

I’m guessing a few will get that if they listened to a couple of guys’ records...

And one of the women seated next to me on a flight from LIH to SEA last month was complaining about the delay in taking off because an arriving flight had reported a bird strike and the tower wanted to wait for a FOD check before allowing us to depart. Some folks just don't get it.

Glad that the only casualty was the bird.

Instead of "Eat mo chikin", we out here in west Texas just say "build more wind turbines" to reduce aircraft bird strikes:eek:

Used to have Turkey vulture encounters quite a bit out here in my area ... last one I saw was near Llano over a year ago.

I got yelled at in LGA last week. We landed 30 minutes early only to get to the gate 10 minutes early because of ramp congestion. Douche nozzle in first class said, “maybe you shouldn’t fly so fast.” We still were 10 minutes early.
