Don't want a MyQ because this isn't actually for a garage door, its for my hangar door. I just need a simple monitor that will alert me when the door opens, or if it's during certain hours, or for a specified length of time. If it's Z-wave or the like, I don't want to have to run a computer to host software, or buy a hundred bucks of other equipment....

What’s wrong with MyQ? I use it with the home garage door openers and it works great.

I assume you have wifi at the hangar, or do you need something with cellphone connectivity?

Yes, I have WiFi in the hangar.

It won’t open my hydraulic hangar door opener. It’s serious overkill. I have a myq for the garage already. I’m pretty sure the sensors have to be in line of sight, or I could use the myQ I already have.

Hey, that looks nice. Will check it out more. Thanks.

check out garadget. been doing a ton of home automation stuff lately. MyQ uses a wireless tilt sensor mounted on the door
