Small Plane Lands on Lake Shore Drive

I like MDW ATC thinking outside the box and just telling the pilot to put it down on Lake Shore Dr rather than land in the water. Saved the plane for sure and quite possibly the occupants.
 
I wonder if ATC really directed him to land on LSD during rush hour. I would imagine they'd be highly criticized if it had gone badly. My experience with ATC has been their advising me where the nearest airfield was and asking me what I intended to do.

Landing during rush hour ,must be a skilled pilot. Good to see no damage or injuries.
 
I just had a flashback to the Airplane movie with Lloyd Bridges in the Tower saying today was the wrong day to stop taking LSD. :)
