. Finally saw Bob land the cub on the truck in person. Seen it on youtube quite a few times.

Bob? That's Greg Koontz, local pilot from these parts and The Alabama Gang. It's on the door of the truck above.

Greg owns his own airport and teaches aerobatics. Link to his school:

How not to land a 767. Looks like they forgot they still needed to land the nose wheel.

Aww man. The photo of the five people standing under the crack staring up at it with no damn clue what they’re going to do about it, was much better. You should have copied that one! :)

I haven't seen that one, these were posted on my company chat website. If you have it I would like to see it!:)

What you see are the two main inlets into the great South Bay from the Atlantic in Suffolk County. Both, as you may be able to tell, are barely navigable.

At the local airport this morning when I arrived. Flew in yesterday.

I love looking at them, and I appreciate the effort it takes to keep it shiny, which automatically puts in into the "no effing way" category for me.
I don't even want friends who own something like that.
OK. That's not true. I do have a friend who owns a polished c-140, but he knows better than to ask me to help polish. I'll help with anything else, but not polishing.

How does that happen??
Big airplanes require you to "land" the nose gear, it must be flown to touchdown before you lose elevator effectiveness. If you just let it drop the impact is massive!
I spoke with a friend from Atlas about it and he said it was a new guys first landing out of the sim. I think his prior experience was in RJs.

I'm guessing that the Check Airman that let it happen is probably in more trouble than the student. They will both need to take 709 rides with the feds though.

At the very least the Check Airman will lose his Check Airman letter.

MOON + 737

Two weeks ago, I posted a picture of my son being congratulated by the DPE after passing his Commercial check-ride back in December 2016. Today's picture is a little more current . . .
After a week in Dallas, he took the ATP written and earned his seat in Saint Louis with a score of 91. He received his crew badge this past Friday, and managed to get back home for a short visit. He took the picture on the STL to ATL leg, thanks to Southwest, and he posted it with the hashtag, "jumpseat."

Nice! I spot the Ren Cen and Ford Field! Been a day or two since I’ve been back up there.

Flew on airlines YYZ to DTW, now on long layover before IND. Looking forward to some GA this weekend...clear and calm Sat & Sun

Excellent. I might just commit Aviation myself over the weekend. Safe flying!
