Flex Glue on EXP aircraft?

Instead of buying all of the rivets for an RV-8 project, could they be substituted with this Flex Glue instead? Phil says it supports over 1000lbs and that you don’t need screws or nails. Wish they would’ve demonstrated how many g’s it can handle...

Asking for a friend of course. :D

It's your airplane. Do whatever you want.
Then the FAA does whatever it wants.
 
You know one trick mechanics use to find damage history on Cessnas is to look at the leading edges for flush rivets. Because Cessna didn't rivet the leading edges to the ribs. They used glue.
 
glue = substance used for sticking objects or materials together.
Adhesive = expensive Glue
Structural Adhesive = Very expensive Glue
 
If they have a purple version then be sure to keep it away from any Grummans
 
No rivets? - would certainly be faster.....until it’s not.

Most all factory aircraft bonding operations are heat-cured epoxies, either at 250°F or 350°F depending on the material system. The repairs in the Grumman SRM are all riveted repairs with Pro-Seal to seal the joint. I do know someone who got DER approval to do an all-bonded structural repair on a Grumman using Hysol 9330 structural epoxy adhesive cured at ambient temperature. He used Alodine as surface prep, I would recommend 3M AC-130 Sol-Gel (Boeing BMS5-162) instead. It's amazing stuff. Stay away from the as-seen-on-TV junk.
