Kentucky Dam PoA fly-in... (M34 Apr 26-29) who's coming?

OK, this is not the classified section but as some of you know I am probably finished with flying. I have a nice iFly 740 GPS I will not likely be using. Seems like it cost me around $799 because I was one of their Beta Testers. I saw where Adventure Pilot had an open box 740 for $799 and their newer but not as bright 740b which goes for $599.

Before I list it in the classifieds I thought I would see if anyone is interested in it. I tried foreflight but didn't like the weaker screens on most of the tablets out there and have never been a big I-thingy fan. If anyone is interested let me know and I will take it with me to the fly-in.

I notice it's only 1.4 miles from the airport to the lodge... I dug my bicycle out of storage and it appears to work still. Now, if I can figure out how to stuff a full size bike into an Archer we might have a plan here....

My number is on the Conversation - if anyone needs a ride from the airport to wherever, just call or shoot me a text, and I'll pick them up.

We are bringing our two bicycles...

It’s looking like work will be the only thing for me Friday. I may be able to swing by on Saturday but not sure. Hate to miss all the fun.

Well, it's supposed to be raining and low ceilings tomorrow, so it looks like I'll have to push my dynamic prop balance to Thursday morning. That will probably put us leaving a little later than planned, but we should still be arriving sometime on Thurs if nothing else comes up.

I couldn’t sleep so I just checked the weather for Friday to Sunday: looks great!

(I can’t believe that as of right now, they are saying I’ll have a tailwind, BOTH WAYS!!!)

I am not sure how far it is from the campground to the runway but I will have my t-way portable with me and will be listening for all of you.

I waited to book my room at the lodge, to ensure time constraints and weather would cooperate. I was surprised that the price has come down considerably from when I first checked. Usually, I get penalized for last minute lodging.

Shhh. You’ll jinx it. :)

No more flying for you? How come?

Looks like I’m not gonna be able to make it either. However, if you fly by KCKV and specifically KHOP on your way in on Friday afternoon, I’ll be in the pattern beating my helmet into a fuselage former with day 1 students...

In all seriousness though, use Campbell Approach for anything you need in the area, they are GA friendly and it can get busy in the airspace.

Have a great time, and hope to see some of you at Oshkosh!

Brad

Management found out about y'all and after all the other guests cancelled their reservations, they figured might as well lower the rates. ;):D

I've never seen room rates change as much as theirs do. Over the last couple months, I've seen the king room rate fluctuate between $67 and $140 for this weekend. I finally booked a few weeks ago at $124/night.

I assume they are another state that has private concessionaires run their parks. I hate them.

If any of you "westerly" folks has issues with WX or MX going to/from I'm halfway between Lebanon,Mo (lbo) & Springfield,MO (sgf) and would be happy to come get you at either one. I have an extra bed if needed and know ALL the bars!

And like @timwinters, if any of y’all have any issues in the immediate area, I have a hangar and some tools at CKV.

When this thread first started I had no plan to have a hip replaced just before the event. However, day 10 into my recovery and all things are good. A totally unexpected opportunity for transportation arose today, and I gratefully accepted. So Sue and I plan to be there Saturday afternoon, night and Sunday. We have a room at the lodge. Looking forward to seeing everybody. Long nature walks are out for me. I sit and limp quite well.

Great to hear Lance, looking forward to seeing you again.

The truck is a 1962 Willys with the original 230 OHC engine. When I got it they pushed it off the carrier into my yard. I've redone the electrical, exhaust, fuel system and painted it with spray cans. I replaced the bias ply tires with those radials and fabricated the bumpers. I used to drive it everyday but then I got an old Ford Escort because I could keep my golf clubs in the Escort and didn't have to shift gears. Now I use it when I need a truck mostly in the spring and fall to haul dirt and mulch and stuff for friends. I keep it so I can drive it after the EMP attack since it has no electronics.
