Many control towers allow visitors; many do not.
That said, does Chicago O’Hare allow visitors (a student pilot)?

Is there a contact number that goes directly to ATC? The number listed online are general.

Thank you.

Your not going to get up to ORD's tower unless you know someone up there. There are many towers around the local area that will let you go for a tour. Tracon will also be glad to show you around and on occasion will do an operation raincheck where you get to plug in with a controller.

DuPage (KDPA) and Aurora (KARR) both have towers but I think you need a hook in order to tour. but give them a call.

Chicago exeuctive (kpwk) has always been accommodating. It's only 8 miles north of O'Hare

I toured KPHX tower and tracon it was awesome

Almost five years ago the local tower chief told me to leave and never come back. I'm not familiar with current policies on tower visits.

Well, that was helpful. We all are forced to retire eventually.

Thank you for all the helpful replies.
I have spoken with the Chief Operations Inspector at Chicago O’Hare. He said I would be allowed to tour the tower at O’Hare. There is some credentialing involved, but I am a licensed student pilot so it’s all good.

Very exciting to be at one of the busiest towers in the country.

PM me. I can get you the number for ORD. If they have someone available to escort you, you should have no problem setting up a tour.
