Norway aims for all short-haul flights to be 100% electric by 2040

All of Norway’s short-haul airliners should be entirely electric by 2040, the country’s airport operator said on Wednesday, cementing the Nordic nation’s role as a pioneer in the field of electric transport.

“We think that all flights lasting up to 1.5 hours can be flown by aircraft that are entirely electric,” he said, noting that would cover all domestic flights and those to neighbouring Scandinavian capitals.

Anything more than short-haul flights would require much longer extension cords.

Another benefit: if anything comes out the back of those airplanes in flight, then we'll know chemtrails are real! :p

“We think that all flights lasting up to 1.5 hours can be flown by aircraft that are entirely electric and follow a set of rails built at ground level and also don't leave the ground,” he said, noting that would cover all domestic flights and those to neighbouring Scandinavian capitals.
FTFY.

LOL. Norway is among the world's largest hydrocarbon producers. In 2016 it ranked 15th in the world for oil production, just behind Nigeria and Angola, at 1.65 million barrels a day, and 7th in the world in natural gas production, just behind Canada and China.
