the aspen is pretty flippin sweet, far better than the g5 in my opinion. but since the aspen isn't new, and the g5 is, everyone wants the g5.
Yeah I’d prefer that too. G5 doesn’t have an option for winds as far as I know.

No air data computer in the G5 but GTNs and GNSs have ADC so not needed in the G5. The G5 is growing on me with the way it fits in with other Garmin equipment.

image.jpeg Sunset near Florida panhandle (can see it just under the wing) out the left window of an A319 at 34000 ft northbound KRSW to KIND. Going from 70 degrees to 1 in a little over 2 hrs.

The Aspen also costs 4x as much. They're not really competing products IMO. The G500 TXi 7" is more in line with what the Aspen is and the Aspen's price point.

We flew from DTW to DFW on 12/24/17. Snow was continuously falling in Detroit and we left with more then an hour delay... We had to fly commercial.

Finally leaving the gate in DTW:

Finally, some snow in the local mountains. Mild Santa Ana conditions so we had some good bumps on the climb-out from Cable, but serene and glassy smooth at our lunch destination of Big Bear. About 80 degrees ambient at takeoff, and 50 when we landed.

Here's the "nostril cam" view of me and my friend Greg. :)
