Is anyone going to start a 2018 Gaston's thread?

I don't want to start it but it should be started, a date agreed upon (2nd weekend in October?)
Then someone who is always cool calm and collected (@OkieFlyer?) could start a discussion about food options.

For the record this is not the thread that should be started as it is in Hangar talk.
This is where we talk about the thread that will be in the "Cool places to fly area".

This thread is more meta being that it a thread about a thread.
It is also only hypothetical at this point being that that thread does not yet exist.
Once that exists, it will be multi threaded.

Great, now this thread will be impossible to garbage collect.

Going to report you for making a thread about a thread about making a thread.

Firstly, nobody has ever called me cool. I'm touched.

Secondly, It looks like I'm going to have to make a choice between the Kentucky Dam Fly-in and Gaston's. I'm off work 26 weeks out of the year, but Kentucky Dam and Gaston's will both happen when I'm on shift, and I don't have enough vacation to do both. Choices, choices. Do I go with the new or the tried and true????

Man, that's a tough choice! You should re-think this 'working' thing. As much as I want to see you at Gaston's, I'd do Kentucky Dam. Of course, I'll prolly see you at KD, so it's all good

Well crap, Cranford, I thought I was doing pretty good only working every other week. Unfortunately, the aviation world seems to only be socially inclined on the half that I work. In my defense, I nearly begged to do the Kentucky Fly-in on an off week, but noooooooooooooo, Papa Charlie with a Y picked a work week. That guy has got something against me, I just know it. Maybe he's threatened by my rugged good looks, my ability to melt faces with my insane impromptu guitar shredding ability, and the far superior top wing aircraft I fly. I dunno, but he's got it out for me. In fact, I believe he picked the dates for both fly-ins. Coincidence? I think not.

You have sick days right?

Don't you go encouraging people to use sick days when they aren't actually sick.

Someday I'll have to write the Ravioli HR manual. Destined to be an Amazon worst seller. But I can put 100's of threads on PoA to promote it.

Hmm. I just happen to have about 300 hours or so saved up. It never occurred to me to be dishonest. You may be on to something there, Bry.

Dude it is not dishonest. You pay for those days.
Actually I dont know how it works. My company just gives you PTO and you do with it what you want.

But "sick" can also mean a lot of things.

You have sick guitar skills man!

I had a clown argue with me that the time wasn't PTO because he was sick. I wonder where he's working these days...

We accrue sick time separate from vacation time. Sick time requires a doctor's note beyond 3 days. I could make that work. I'll just tell 'em I'm going to fly to see a specialist in Flippin, AR. I'm not sure what a Flippin, AR specialist would specialize in besides rectal trauma and bare gum care, though. If the guitar playin' doctor in the Bonanza shows up at Gaston's, it's friggen legit.

Look I was sick! It doesn't count man!
Give me a second chance!

RJ Reynolds used to work that way. Unlimited sick days (subject to management action for abuse) and PTO was just vacation time.

Was nice

Where I work, we have "Health & Wellness hours." Can be used for anything, even being sick. No sick days.

Looks like I'll be off-shift for that. Was planning to take a Jeep trip that month, but maybe a variation of plans is warranted...

Will we have name tags? I mean, would anyone recognize me just by my blonde hair and aquamarine shirt?

Yup, you pay for those days, in your raise and bonus. I had a guy one day came in practically dead from the flu, I told him to use a sick day, he told me he didn't want to waste one, he was going on a trip. I booted his ass out before he infected everyone, never really liked him.

Is there an approved list of planes allowed? Like no plasticy planes, no high wings, only Bryans with a Y, that type of thing? Or is this a good old fashioned show us what you got type of dance?

I have seen a Cirrus land there and I kid you not it was the only plane that landed downwind in what is generally viewed as the wrong way in.
The whole reason I bought the Grumman was to get respect at Gastons. I am not one of those uppity cirrus types.
