Doesn't Oprah have enough money? Why can't she leave some for others to earn?

The more they have the more they want. Don't you?

O, it's a big O ok, she was just on the idiot box hawking ice cream, plus I saw her last night in the previews prior to Star Wars in a movie. The lady is insatiable.

I don't own a television. Are people still watching her?
And if so, is that making America great again?
Just askin'

She threw Hill under the bus in favor of her homey, B.O.

She supports anyone that supports socialism.

It’s the smart tactic for multi-hundred-millionaires. Especially entertainers. It makes their audience think they actually care about them. It also supports their personal delusion that they’re still just like everyone else. Win, win.

I remember the car giveaway debacle. She gave everyone in the audience a new car in conjunction with GM or something, and forgot everyone in the audience would have to report the car as income on their taxes.

Why would she know that? She has people to take care of that tax stuff for her.

She went out of touch with her relatively normal beginnings in Chicago TV long long ago.

Was that "oh" or "zero"?
Syntax matters - here we go again.

.....uh "oh"!

Wasn’t she one of those peeps who said she’d leave the country if a certain someone took office? Well, O, GTFOH!

Oh, I'm sure she knew about the tax repercussions for the winners but she knew the initial buzz and goodwill from the giveaway would eclipse any subsequent bad feelings due to the taxes. Besides, the cars given away were worth $28,500 at the time and the taxes were $7,000 at most according to this article. So, I would not be bitching too much if I had won. Also, GM provided the cars, not oprah. So she got a great deal of publicity at relatively zero cost to her.

Personally, I never understood the allure of oprah or her show. She always seemed so phony with all of that fake crying and all.

If anyone took the time to take even a cursory look at socialism would quickly realize what a hateful and dangerous philosophy it is, look at Venezuela. I don't think Oprah lost touch, she was never in touch.

Heck I'm waiting for Streisand, Cher, and Baldwin to leave. Surprised Trump hasn't called them out on it.

Baldwin can't leave...he IS Trump.

That would be a funny tweet from Trump... "Please send me your new address so I can update my Christmas card list"

"Please" ?? o_O  ;)

She didn’t. There were a bunch of interviews about it later. She was absolutely clueless. She brought in a whole bunch of really broke people and handed them essentially a nice new car for the price of a used car loan at the time, but the loan was all due April 15th. Ha.

And she wasn’t exactly dealing with the tax-educated here, since she picked really broke folks for that giveaway.

I think the best thing Oprah ever did was unleash Dr Phil on the world. LOL LOL LOL.

(Texas drawl mode on...)
“Ya need to give yerself a huuuuuuuug!”

ROFL.

Interesting. I’ve heard numerous times how business savvy she supposedly is. Even if she wasn’t an expert on taxes, you’d think she would have asked her lawyers, accountants, or other advisors before doing the stunt. That’s what most successful business people do, ask your experts.

I didn’t know she had brought in a bunch of real poor people for that show. I assumed they were her normal audience, middle class while women suffering from white guilt.

ROFLMAO. That’s funny right there.

As I recall the audience that day was all “deserving” people, for whatever that phrase is worth.

The real bummer for her is that at her level she can’t just give cash to people so they can forego reporting the income, if they want to, like any other neighbor or caring person can.

There’s a reason government prefers a cashless society if they could get it.

I saw some online clickbait article about “How to have the biggest impact with your donations” recently. I laughed that it didn’t mention, “Just hand the person cash.”

I’m an enabler in this regard. I try to remember to have cash on hand for tips, as much as possible. I could care less if the wait staff, hair person, or whoever never reports that income to the government. Or under report it. Not my job to make sure they do, ya know? ;)

The one really good time to have donations tracked is when an employer does a double match. All sorts of people forget to take advantage of that one.

My current company doesn’t but my last company did and my wife’s does. We max that double down thing out every year for our chosen charities. It’d be stupid not to.
