It took years but cruising at 9.5gph is finally a-okay. Used to be I'd thrift along at 8gph and a miserly 105kts but those days are behind me. I'm not a self-proclaimed cheapskate by any stretch but... YGPHMV

1949 A35 - A BONANZA GUYS!!

10GPH gets me 140KTS (max) I don't lose a lot flying at 9.5 GPH.

7.5GPH is my "squirrel!" speed and one reason I bought the old bird. I'll setup for about 120MPH which seems to be 7.5GPH or so. Great stable platform for pics, looking down or just farting around.

(Sorry - the numbers are close. I'm still getting numbers on the new Bo.)

I got burned once in in Thailand... burn baby burn.

Hate to bring granny's undies in to this, but it depends. If I'm four hours away, I'll burn 10 gpm.

If I'm slightly over that, and going leaner will eliminate a fuel stop, I'm going leaner.

Since I retired,and purchased a two seater,burning 5.2 GPH at 120 knots,I'm very happy,since I sold a beech Travelair at 20 GPH.

Concord burned a bit under 6,000 GPH and did about 1,200 kts.

The Branded Bird is not a great performer. I burn about 8.5 gph at altitude and get 125 KTAS that way. If I go to 9.5 I can get 130.

15GPH at 120ktas

Yeahbut I cruise at 285 on 70 gph....so that is....economical. Ish.

And at $2/minute it is still cheaper than phone sex. And more fun.

PC-12?

What do I pick if I burn between 8 and 9.5 gph? I cruise around 8.5 at around 105-110.

My last plane burned 2GPH for a 55mph cruise. My new plane burns more than 3X that for twice the cruise... but it has 4X the climb rate.:)

LOP I get about 163kts at 11.7 gph.
ROP I get about 169 kts at 15.5 gph.

I usually try to run LOP, but at my last annual, my plugs looked a little fouled, so now I am going to try ROP for a while and check to see how they look. I like the extra 6 or 7 kts anyway.

19gph at 150kts but I have 1465 useful load;-)

I was flying home last week (American Airlines 777) and asked the pilot about his fuel burn at cruising altitude, he said it was 16,000 lbs. per hour, but would drop to about 14,000 lbs. per hour when they got lighter.

7.2 gph, 145 kts
8.0 gph, 155 kts

Totally worth it to go 10 kts faster!

If I'm down low I usually pull the power way back as chances are i'm just out joyriding or not going far so the extra speed isn't worth it.

Bellow 6k I usually cruise at 170 kts on 8 gph.

<6k 240 kts 15 gph

10k is 237 kts on 13 gph

17,500 is 234 kts on 9.8 - 10 gph.

I haven't tried pulling it back at altitude to see how efficient I could make it as I am usually in go someplace mode.

For me: 165 kTAS, 12.5 GPH LOP, 11,000', or 164 kTAS, 13.0 GPH LOP, 8,000'

Most would fly it faster, but I'm cheap.

The RV6 performance in the previous post is enviable!

What do you think they will say 50 to 100 years from now about the gas we burned and how much better they will have it?

90 - 95 kts, 7.5 -8 gph, ROP. Am a happy camper
