I have a friend with a current medical/student pilot certificate who was prescribed a medication that is described as requiring a "ground trial before flying after administration."

1. Who can qualify the ground trial with no ill effects? The student? The doctor? AME?
2. Can the pre-solo student still train with a CFI during the ground trial?

1. The student and anyone else they trust
2. Yes (unless the medication can result in psychotic events, I suppose)

Accutane. It requires a letter from the doc. Depression and some really weird psychiatric stuff can result.
