Spoke with the FBO at Williams Gateway Airport in Mesa, AZ today. I learned they are now charging a $30 ramp fee for aircraft weighing LESS than 5,000 lbs.

They will waive the ramp fee if you purchase 20 gallons of fuel. ($4.94/gal)

This info has not been put on their website as of today, 7/29/16.

Yeah, because, you know, ramp space is at a premium there.... :/ WTH!?

When their tower controller ordered a lady pilot to land, I bet he wouldn't have paid the ramp fee for her if it had existed at the time!

I can understand "cleared to land," but nit "ordered to land." Last time I checked, the PIC is in the airplane not the tower . . .

All a controller do is "advise" you to land, not order you to.

There was an IWA Tower controller a few years ago who didn't get the memo. I'll post a link if I can find it.
