I don't know what happened to the "I'm Free" thread that was here this morning about the change to the ADIZ, but hours later, AOPA finally posted it on their site. I was curious - would AOPA take credit for this (even though they refused to post the "rumor" on their site a few months ago because they weren't the first to mention it).... Let's see:
Thought so.

FAA Administrator Marion Blakey announced on July 26 changes to the Washington Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), something AOPA has been advocating for years and anticipating for weeks.

"One of the actions we have pushed for as an alternative to a final rule was an immediate change to the notam," Boyer said. "So, while we are not totally content with today's announcement, it is significant."
....
AOPA staff leveraged the outpouring of support from pilots in its ongoing efforts to lobby for ADIZ reform in meetings with security officials and Congress. AOPA had numerous meetings in the past year with representatives from the Department of Homeland Security, FAA, Department of Defense, and White House.
Thought so.
