I just joined a flight club, and I want some places to take my family within 100-150 NM of St Paul. For example, the aviation museum at Granite Falls. I am also looking for places that would lend us a car for a short drive to a good restaurant. I have noticed that both MN and WI seem to come up a bit short in on-field restaurants.

If folks have ideas, please post them!

I consider the restaurant on the field at Brainerd a "must do".

Also land at field of dreams, get shuttle to grand casino, enjoy buffet.

I hear Olivia has place(s) so close they might as well be on the field.

Also fly to Litchfield to go visit largest ball of twine.

Are you allowed to land on grass ?

Maddens resort near Brainerd has the East Gull Lake airport (9Y2) adjoining the property.

I'll second Brainerd and East Gull. Some other good ones are Walker & Perham, in MN and Superior & Siren, in WI. I'm pretty sure the courtesy car/Suburban at Perham is usually buried in snow this time of year, but it's an easy drive to Zorbaz once things thaw out.

Park Rapids is a neat little town. Check with the FBO whether you can get the courtesy van (90s era GM Pontiac:D). Go downtown, have a coffee or a sandwich at Bella.

I recommend for gambler and non-gambler to visit GameWorks. I visited it with my whole family. Enjoyed lots of games, American food and sports activity. They have 7 locations in the USA. There is something for every age of person. My kids just love 3 layer chocolate brownie. A perfect place for family time.

Shameless plug for the family business, but we run the biggest winery and one of the best restaurants in the state at Four Daughters. My profile pic is my grass strip, 7MN3, which is less than a mile from the winery. We have loaned pilots our vehicle or given rides to and from the winery as needed, and have also had folks walk if they wanted. Only drawback is the pilot probably shouldn't drink the wine and then fly home
