My one year anniversary of marrying my sexy wife is coming up in a month and I'm considering what we can do. We have our eyes set on Canyonlands as a destination but I'm looking for a bit more to plan.

I recently finished commercial training and have my instrument rating so I'm looking to incorporate this career turn into our vacation.

We love Moab for its rock climbing and scenery. We love camping. But we're also looking for a night in a hotel or B&B.

Anyone have ideas and experiences with some of the places accessible by air here in the Southwest? I live near Eagle, CO.

Payson has a nice campground with hot showers at the airport plus restaurant on field.
Sedona has a nice motel next to the airport.

I like the Caveman option. Potash road has good climbing. Anyone know about affordable vehicle rental options? Seems like all the Jeeps are $200+/day.

Vegas isn't really our thing.

Too bad. Aside from the strip - which could provide some reprieve, you have red rocks for climbing and hiking, shows for night-entertainment, and pretty much something for everyone.

Vegas gets a bad rap sometimes.

Man, plans change quick. We're headed to NM to put an engine in a pickup and drive back home. The young couples' life. Haha.

I'm still keeping caveman as a plan and I saw there's a dirt strip with a guest ranch in western Colorado too.

Not sure if this is your style but they have a nice runway, I fly right over it when i give Grand Canyon flights. https://www.bar10.com/ https://www.airnav.com/airport/1Z1. Or KBCE and hop on the shuttle to Bryce canyon. Then there is L41, although the runway is in poor condition, but there are rooms and food across the highway.
