We rescued a dog awhile back and I don't know what he is.
Thoughts? His hair gets lot longer than this.

He is probably 50-60 lbs and lanky
Initially they said shepard but I don't think that is accurate.

Long Haired Belgian Shepherd Dog mix?

belgian-shepherd-dog-tervueren.jpg

Could be like our second dog. We saw paperwork from the shelter that said blue heeler, another one that said rat terrier, and a couple others with different breeds.
The people we talked to said she's one of those dogs that the DNA test would basically come back and say... unknown/mutt.
Henning is right, he's a good looking dog.

You have a mut!!

Usually means a great dog.

Brindle color makes it a tough one....along with that head n ears.

Tail looks very Shepard though.

Maybe mix of border collie and shep? Nose looks too blunt and wide for that mix though...I would image it would be longer more pointed.

Probably lab and shep mix more I look......lab face...color just mix of shep n lab that turned out brindle looking.

Looks like a cross between a North American Bedhog and an English Shedder...

Same as mine, but looks totally different.

He looks like a good one.

Now... you have to be a good owner.

Just do a DNA test

I know somebody who got a rescue dog and did a DNA test to learn what kind of mix it might be.

I can see why somebody would want to do that. But the money would be so much better spent by donating it in the cause of neutering and spaying, or some such thing.

The OP's dog looks nice, BTW. And it looks like a lot of fun.

Most of you have seen pictures of Jake.

I tended to call him a "Chow Mix" at first, but then I saw a Korean Jindo on The Dog Whisperer. And then someone said he looked like a large Shiba Inu.

So clearly a mix of a bit of both - and much more like those than a Chow.

But most of all, just a good dog!

He is a good dog. I am still a little miffed about his name.
Initially we agreed to let the kids name him.

They wanted to name him Batman. I REALLY wanted to name him that.
"Batman Get off the couch!"
"Batman needs a bath"
"We had to put Batman down today"

meh someone overruled me and the kids so we have "Tiger".

My dog is named Chum. I lived on a boat when I got him and he used to always jump in the water. I have a cat named Bacon. Well, everybody loves bacon. My wife says I'm not allowed to name our kids.:D

My daughter has threatened to name her next dog "Dad" for the same reasons.

"Dad barfed on the neighbors' sidewalk and ran off."
"Dad's been eating out of the cats' litterbox again."

Nauga,
who doesn't like tootsie rolls

I wanted to name our dog dammit, but my son named her "Natty" like Natty Light beer! So, at the vet she's Natalie! :D
She's a pure bred Momma's Girl bedhog! But, she loves to fly! :D

Steven Wright said he named his new dog Stay.

Why?

He just enjoyed the confused look on it's face when he called, "Here Stay! Here Stay!"

What could possibly go wrong..:dunno:.......:D

You got them at Muttland didn't you?
Yup. Rescued them from a fate. Shephard mix, Lucky, was 16 and passed away 4 months ago. Collie mix, Rose, is 10, rescued from Tennessee. Border Collie, Koby, is 10 and rescued from a young family whose daughter kept getting herded to the floor.
I love my dogs. MUTTS RULE!

Aikita is also a possibility.

''

We compromised on Tiger. I wanted him to be Griffin!

And he is an Australian Shepherd mix. At least I think so.
