Adios!
As many of you remember, CT tried to introduce a similar smelling bill a few years back that would have taxed CT aircraft at a high percentage annually. This lead to
massive campaign and the Bill was overturned. It seems a new Bill is back but worded differently. This Bill will just open the door for future taxation.

I couldn't agree more with David. Reach out to your Legislative folk and let them hear your voice. Let them know how important GA's role in CT is and that H5865 is a bad idea. Remind them about HB 6387 that was proposed 2011 and defeated. http://www.aopa.org/advocacy/articl...t_tax_bills_take_aim_at_general_aviation.html

From David Faile:

A bill was introduced in the Connecticut Legislature on January 24th. This bill, H 5865, is described below. It appears this bill targets aircraft based outside Connecticut and receiving services from aviation sources located in Connecticut.

H 5865: Concerns the imposition of sales and use taxes on personal aircraft; clarifies the imposition of sales and use taxes on personal aircraft hangared outside of the state.

Make no mistake about this bill not effecting aircraft based in Connecticut. Should the aviation businesses in Connecticut lose customers because of any tax, the rebound will be expensive for all of us based in Connecticut.

Write your legislative representatives and let them know the impact of this ill thought out legislation.

I know of atleast one Falcon 900 owner who keeps the aircraft in Connecticut as opposed to Mass (where the crew lives) because it's cheaper. CT will lose business if this bill passes as people who live out of state will no longer have any reason to keep their aircraft there.
