Likelihood of Spin in Power-On Stall

My best recommendations for stall practice: * Coordinate with your feet * Ailerons neutral * Don't do it at 500AGL Beyond that, find out how much it takes to get out of a spin in the plane you're flying. Get some unusual attitude and/or spin training in that plane if it's rated for...

Likelihood of Spin in Power-On Stall

Reminds me I should take spin and UA training so *I* worry less about such things. :)

    Newer student struggling with landings....

The problem with being a fast learner is not knowing what to do when it's not moving fast (difficult or novel concepts). Just be patient, and keep plugging at it. It will be well worth it. Tweaking at 20 landings is a good place to be. Make sure your CFI knows, so he can help break things up...

    Garmin 295 color gps $325

Wish I didn't need a color screen. Monochrome takes too much mental processing for me.

5kt crosswind and does wind tire need to touch first?

5 knots is barely noticeable. Probably why it seemed odd/difficult. If you could go up in 10-15 knots, you might find it more natural to hang the upwind wheel down a little.

    FA poisons pilot

Before this post, I'd heard about the OWT of it, but never knew anyone who'd directly witnessed it. I'd never really looked up the real issues with Visine consumption until now: http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/visine.asp Nasty stuff. Low risk of diarrhea, but 2ML for a little kid, or a...

    PIREPS: RM AWC-WEB

I want a code! Would be nice to fill one out on my phone real quick before putting the plane back in the hangar, rather than calling up. But, I can see the importance of certain levels of filtering, more for non-carriers.

    8/10 Students Leaving, My turn

It took me 85.5 hours and 10 CFIs to get my private. I was frustrated. Some weren't great instructors, and I definitely wasn't a great student. But I kept plugging away until I had enough of the right bits to make it work. It's that way with everything. Sometimes, for some people, it's...

    FAA Medical Question

But not if the most recent application for a medical was denied. That's the clincher.

    Clouds above the airport

IMNSHO, definitely report it immediately. "PIREPS are appreciated." :) As to the prudence, I think many of us have had some sort of similar issue. Ceilings descend on you unexpectedly, or the haze layer fades into the clouds. The key is to look at your ADM and your meteorology skills to...

    A "real" Part 61 syllabus

It's important to stress that the FAA does not anywhere state that a PPL ONLY takes 40 hours. It says minimum. Part of FOI involves understanding how your student learns. You've mentioned, "part time student", and this comes into play. It's important to let your student know that if the...

    Obnoxiousness to an instrument student...

I agree, though if I had a stun gun, it might be more fitting than firing the CFI. On the flip side, you might very well fly with a left seater sometime that decides it's ok to monkey with the controls. Maybe a kid, maybe an idiot, maybe another pilot who's just trying to help out. Being...
